Preview: St Pat’s Weekend

The 4th edition of the All Vietnam Schools Cup  takes place on 16 March and is organised by the Viet Celts .  The  event is being hosted by Vietnam Australia School (VAS) and the excitement is building as players and supporters have been looking forward to the tournament for this past few weeks. The VAS Sportsground is one of the top venues in the country for 9-a-side youth Gaelic Football.

Hanoi International School (HIS) are defending champions in the junior boys’ competition as well as the girls’ competition. Hanoi Academy are defending champions in the senior boys competition. However, HIS Senior Boys will fancy their chances after an incredible performance against VAS Hanoi in the Hanoi Exhibition Cup in February. Can HIS do the treble? Find out at the VAS Sportsground in My Dinh on Saturday 16 March from 2pm-6pm. Map to venue here

As always, Education in Ireland continues to support Vietnamese Youth Gaelic Football. This solid support is extremely important in putting on these youth tournaments, three of which were organised by the Viet Celts last year.

This year, the Movenpick Hotel Hanoi is giving 5% of the proceeds from their St Pat’s Brunch to the Viet Celts Gaelic Football Schools Programme. The St Pat’s Brunch is being held in the Movenpick on 17 March from 11am-3:30pm. Thanks to Movenpick for their generosity.

Our Breton cousins have kindly invited the Viet Celts and the general Irish community to their market off To Ngoc Van St on Sat 16th from 9am-1pm. The VC will promote the club and enjoy the novelty of eating Irish Duck Stew which we are led to believe is a Breton version of the real thing

Club members will also be dropping in to Puku at various times during the weekend to touch base on the St Pat’s weekend activities and avail of the hospitality.
