On March 5, 2011 a makeshift Viet Celts travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the KL Challenge 2011. Mike Clifford captained the Viet Celts for the first time in his career. The VC did well in the group stage having a great victory over Malaysia Blue when a Glamorous Bob Patterson point settled the team after an initially scrappy opening half by both sides.
With the fine showing in the group stage, the VC earned the right to compete in the Cup rather than the Plate but were up against it with injuries and the standard of the opposition playing Singapore Red and Singapore White. However overall the tournament was a relative success for the men from Hanoi. The VC finished the tournament in 3rd place in front of Malaysia Blue, Malaysia Yellow and Malaysia Warriors.

Some members of the Duracelts also travelled down and formed part of an amalgamated side which put together some good performances in difficult circumstances.
