Thursday May 13th saw the second instalment of the DuraCelts’ popular Pub Quiz Night – a fundraising event hosted by the ladies Gaelic football team.
This time around, nearly 60 people tested their ability to recall obscure facts throughout four rounds of Southeast Asian-themed questions.
It was a tough battle to the end for victory, with the top two teams facing off in a high-stakes sudden death round. In the end, the team with superior knowledge of alcoholic beverages prevailed and walked away with glory, and a case of Guinness.
The event was held at Finnegan’s Irish Pub, a dedicated sponsor of the Viet Celts and patient host to our shenanigans.
The quiz was hosted by MC- and defensive player-extraordinaire Mags, with help from other leading ladies on the team. Highlights of the night included tough competition, raffle prizes, and a free beer round from Finnegan’s.
Proceeds raised during the event helped support the DuraCelts who headed off to Jakarta, Indonesia to compete with teams from around Asia at the Southeast Asian Games on May 29th where they secured a glorious third place thanks to a magnificent win over Malaysia.
Thanks to JOMA café and others for the generous donations of raffle prizes.
